Consequence Strategies - Reinforcement vs. Punishment
The word consequence often brings up guilt, confusion, and pressure to be stricter. This session explains what reinforcement and punishment actually mean through a behavior analytic lens, where both are technical terms rather than moral ones. Parents and caregivers learn how a change in the environment immediately after a behavior can strengthen or weaken it, why something that looks unpleasant can still reinforce a behavior, and what the real risks and limits of punishment strategies are. The focus stays on teaching, safety, communication, and independence rather than on obedience.
