IN-HOME ABA THERAPY

Why In-Home ABA Matters

Expert Clinical Care, Zero Commute

No drives to a clinic. No waiting room time. No stress about transitions. Our clinical team handles the hard work of therapy planning—you handle the life part.

Skills That Transfer to Daily Life

The therapies practiced in a clinic don't always translate to the real world. In-home therapy happens exactly where your child lives. Skills generalize naturally because they're learned in context.

You Learn & Grow Together

Parents in in-home therapy aren't spectators—you're part of the team. Watch your RBT in action, ask questions in real time, and learn techniques you'll use with your child between sessions. That's where real change happens.

What a Typical Session Looks Like

Every family is different, but here's how a typical in-home ABA session flows:

1

Warm-Up

RBT settles in with your child, builds rapport with familiar games or activities. You observe nearby.

2

Structured Teaching

The RBT works on specific skills from your child's treatment plan—communication, play, self-regulation, or daily living skills. You see exactly how it's done.

3

Real-World Practice

Skills get practiced in your actual home environment—maybe during a snack, helping set the table, or a transition to another activity.

4

Debrief

RBT talks through what you both saw. You ask questions. We discuss what you can reinforce between sessions.

HOW IT WORKS

FAMILY STORIES

Trusted by Families Nationwide

Hear from parents who have transformed their approach to supporting their children through Forta.

Forta has helped me help my son. Working on skills he needs to master with patience. My son enjoys working with the clinicians and engages with the computer. The clinicians that I have worked with are wonderful.

Audrey
Mother of James, age 5

I've spent the last month looking for an ABA program that works with his school schedule. Forta seemed like a great opportunity to get him the services he needs and also help me understand ABA therapy.

Jamie
Parent of Theodore, age 7

I’m happy with the help I have received from the therapists. They are very supportive and helpful with all of our needs. The therapy has resulted in much needed improved behavior from our son. I would recommend the services for anyone needing help through the difficult situation of a special needs child.

Jenna
Mother of Paisley, age 6

If we continue to grow how we have in just a month with Forta, I know he will be able to work independently on his own. The progress has been incredible.

Father of William, age 4

Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know

Is In-Home therapy as effective as clinic-based ABA?

Research shows that skills learned in familiar settings transfer more naturally to everyday life. Your child practices real skills in real situations: getting dressed, eating meals, interacting with siblings. Plus, you're right there to reinforce what they're learning between sessions.

What is the difference between In-Home ABA and Clinic-Based ABA?

In-Home ABA focuses on generalization, teaching your child skills in their natural environment so they transfer immediately to daily life. Clinic-Based ABA occurs in a structured facility. In-home therapy is ideal for mastering routines like mealtime, dressing, and sibling interaction where they actually happen.

What happens if our RBT can't make it to a session?

This is where Forta Health is fundamentally different. Rather than sending a replacement therapist your family has never met, your Virtual BT steps in for the session under the same BCBA supervision and treatment plan. Your child stays on track. Your family's trust and routine stay intact. Our goal is to never miss a session due to availability, and this model lets us greatly reduce the cancellations that have long plagued In-Home ABA.

Will an RBT in my home be safe for my child?

Every Forta Health therapist is background-checked, certified, and supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Your child's BCBA oversees every session plan and monitors progress continuously. You're always welcome to be present during sessions. In fact, we encourage it.

Does insurance cover In-Home ABA?

Yes. In Ohio we accept Ohio Medicaid and the major managed care plans including AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio, Buckeye Health Plan, CareSource and Molina, plus commercial plans such as Anthem, Aetna, Evernorth (Cigna), Magellan and Carelon. Our team handles verification and authorization so you can focus on your family, not paperwork.

Does Medicaid cover In-Home ABA therapy?

Yes. Ohio Medicaid covers medically necessary In-Home ABA therapy for children with an autism diagnosis, and for most families that means no out-of-pocket cost. We accept Ohio Medicaid and its managed care plans and handle every verification and authorization for you.

Can my child eventually transition to virtual sessions?

Absolutely, and this is one of the unique advantages of choosing Forta Health. Your child's BCBA continuously evaluates progress and can recommend transitioning to a hybrid model (some In-Home, some Virtual) or fully Virtual ABA sessions when clinically appropriate. Many children graduate naturally from In-Home to Hybrid as their skills develop. It's a sign of progress.

What if my child regresses after graduating from In-Home?

This is exactly why the virtual-first model matters. If your child experiences a regression after graduating from In-Home ABA, Virtual ABA is available immediately for continued education and support. There is no need to restart the intake process, wait for a new in-home RBT, or lose momentum. Your child's clinical team stays connected, and support resumes quickly through the virtual platform.

How quickly can we actually start?

Faster than traditional In-Home ABA programs. Because Forta Health conducts clinical assessments remotely, we bypass the scheduling bottlenecks that delay other providers. Your care coordinator will walk you through every step and keep you updated on timelines from day one.

What if my home isn't set up for therapy?

That's the beauty of In-Home ABA: we work with your space as it is. Your therapist adapts to your home, not the other way around. A kitchen table, a living room floor, a backyard. Therapy happens wherever your child is most engaged.

How many hours of service do I need to be available for?

Forta Health requires a minimum of 15 hours or 85% of prescribed hours in your approved treatment plan.

Do I have to be available during services?

Yes, we require that a legal parent or guardian is present during all sessions.

What if my child doesn't like the therapist?

"Pairing" is our first priority. If the rapport isn't there after a few weeks, we discuss it openly. We want your child to look forward to these sessions, not dread them.
